1. Who we are
Strait Line Driving School operates this website and online booking service. For personal data processed through the website, we act as the data controller where we determine why and how the information is used.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the website, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number, booking information, instructor, lesson date and time, pickup point, information supplied in booking questions, student portal information, payment status, correspondence and technical information such as IP address and browser/device information where collected by our service providers.
3. How we use your information
- To process and manage bookings.
- To check instructor availability and prevent double-booking.
- To send confirmations, payment instructions and service emails.
- To create and manage student portal accounts.
- To administer instructor schedules and accounts.
- To process payments and maintain appropriate records.
- To apply or validate promotional discounts.
- To provide support and handle complaints.
- To maintain security and troubleshoot the website.
- To comply with legal, accounting or other applicable obligations.
4. Legal basis
Depending on the processing activity, we may rely on performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, legitimate interests where appropriate, or consent where consent is required. Gibraltar's data-protection framework includes the Gibraltar GDPR and Data Protection Act 2004.
5. Booking and student information
Booking information is used to arrange lessons and administer your account. Relevant information may be accessible to authorised instructors where necessary to provide the lesson. Please do not enter unnecessary sensitive information into free-text fields.
6. Payments
Online payment information may be processed directly by the payment provider used by the website. We may receive payment status, transaction reference, amount and payment method so that we can administer the booking. Where cash is selected, we may record the cash payment method and payment status.
7. Google Calendar
Instructors may optionally connect their own Google Calendar through the Instructor Portal. Where connected, the website may access the calendar information necessary to determine availability and may create, update or delete lesson events associated with bookings. The Google account belongs to the individual instructor; the system is designed so each instructor can connect their own calendar.
Google processes information under its own privacy policy and terms. An instructor can revoke the website's access through their Google Account settings or through controls provided by the website.
8. Service providers and sharing
We may share the minimum information necessary with providers that help operate the website, such as hosting, email, payment, security and calendar providers. We may also disclose information where required by law or necessary to protect our rights, customers, instructors or systems.
9. International transfers
Some technology or payment providers may process information outside Gibraltar. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will seek to use safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.
10. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for providing services, maintaining business and accounting records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements and complying with legal obligations. Different information may therefore be retained for different periods.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. No internet-based system can be guaranteed completely secure.
12. Your rights
Subject to applicable legal conditions and exceptions, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion in appropriate circumstances, restriction, objection and withdrawal of consent where consent is the legal basis. Data-portability rights may also apply where relevant.
13. Cookies
The website may use necessary cookies or similar technologies to operate the site, maintain sessions, remember settings and support security. If optional analytics or marketing technologies are introduced, appropriate information and consent controls will be provided where required.
14. Complaints
Please contact Strait Line Driving School first if you have a privacy concern. You may also contact the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority, which is Gibraltar's supervisory authority for data protection.
